Successful launch Urban Protocol for Artist Participation

BAVO

2009

In a closed Corrillos meeting in TENT, a select group of artists and representatives of art institutions active in Rotterdam were given the opportunity to discuss the use and advantages of artist participation for the city.

The Urban Protocol for Artist Participation was successfully launched in a closed Corrillos meeting in TENT in Rotterdam.

The preliminary policy document entitled ‘The necessity of enthusiastic artistic leadership in the formation and activation of creative coalitions in the Netherlands: the Rotterdam Code’ was presented in full detail. This offered to all those present the opportunity to discuss the use and advantages of artist participation both with the authors of the policy document and with one another.

In the coming period this dialogue will be continued with relevant partners in Rotterdam’s art sector in order to further sharpen the Urban Protocol for Artist Participation.

The Urban Protocol for Artist Participation will lead to the formulation of broadly accepted minimum norms for artist participation with regards to social and urban issues in Rotterdam. It also aims at correcting unrealistic expectations from the part of the art sector and its partners.
